outlook restarts when trying to leave messages on server

I ran adobe filter on my windows 2000 client and outlook started 100% cpu
problem and crashed with outlook.exe error. I upgraded to my outlook 2003 and
still same problem. Downloaded all the service packs and patches but same
problem. Added RAM, same problem. For example, if I try to change advanced
email user configuration and leave my messages on the server for 21 days,
outlook gives me error message (goobligucks) and says it has to restart
outlook every time. Any ideas please?
