Outlook retrieves messages but does not show them

Hello people,

Got into trouble a day or two again because my OL PST file got too large.
Got the message to start cleaning it up. Did some permanent deletions of
older mail to clean up the files. Seems to work allright (got no message
anymore) and simply left OL running after that.

It was only a few hours later I realised OL was downloading mail
(send/receive message in the bottom indicates messages are getting received),
but that those new messages were not showed.

I quit OL, restarted the PC to be sure and relaunched OL. Now, new messages
are showed correctly indeed and everything works fine again. However, this
basically means that I am missing mail from a couple of hours (basically one
day) in between, when OL downloaded them, but when the disappered afterwards.

I did the help > detect and repair routine and everything works fine, but
those mails are still missing. Are they lost forever or is there still a way
to get them back ? Pretty scary stuff by the way: OL basically deleting your
new messages...

Many thanks for any suggestion !

Regards,

Mav.

if they were downloaded when outlook had problems with the pst size, they
are lost for good.
