Outlook Rule to detect forward/replied messages

P

Phill W.

I work as part of a Team that has a shared Mailbox to which other
Developers send messages to "prompt" us into doing some work. ;-)
We already have Rules that forward these messages on to one or more
members of the Team when a /new/ message arrives.

So far, so good.

What I'd like to do is to extend this so that we can keep copies of
/replies/ in the shared Mailbox, but without the "Noticiation" Rules
blasting out redundant (and annoying) copies of each and every message
as we do so

So, I /tried/ to set up this Rule to run before the "Notification" ones:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
with 're:' or 'RE:' in the subject
except if sent only to me
stop processing more rules

Now, I /thought/ that if I reply to a forwarded message, this Rule would
detect that this is a "reply" and skip processing the subsequent
"Notification" Rules. Suffice to say; it doesn't. The Rules plough
through this one regardless and run the "Notification" rules.

(BTW, we're using Outlook 2003 SP2, if that makes a difference).

Any suggestions gratefully received,
Phill W.

do you send each other messages? if not, use 'if from xxx - stop processing'
if no one from your domain sends mail to the mailbox, you can use one rule.
