Outlook Rules Restrictions

Can someone help me figure out how to increase the amount of rules allowed by
Outlook or the size alloted for rules by Outlook? Currently I have 25 rules
and I'm wanting to apply different sounds for different types of emails
received as well as from different people but once I try to use more then 5
it no longer allows any more rules and says that...

your Outlook version is?

Have a look on this sites:

"Some rules are disabled, and you receive an error message when you try to
enable them after you upgrade to Outlook 2007 or to Outlook 2003"

"One or more rules could not be uploaded to Exchange server and have been
deactivated. This could be because some of the parameters are not supported
or there is insufficient space to store all your rules."

There is a size limit for the rules, not a an amount limit. The limit is in
Exchange and not in Outlook. Exchange 2003 and previous have a limit of
32KB. Exchange 2007 has a default limit of 64KB but this can be extended to
256KB by your mail admin.

Thank You Very Much! That is exactly what I needed to know. Now I can
compress the files even further and squeeze even more in.

BTW, I am running Outlook2003, sorry for not mentioning that earlier.

Either combine some of your rules (if you can) or upgrade to Exchange 2007,
which doubles the default rule store size, plus allows it to be made eight
times larger than Exchange 2003.

I've been fighting this arbitrary rule since 1998. Why we can't have rules
running on the local machine since most of us use these rules to dump email
categories to a PST just baffles me. If I want 500K of rules running against
my PST to organize my email, I should be able to have it. Without it, there
isn't any office automation.
