Outlook running after turning program off

I need help finding the place to turn off Outlook running after I turn the
program off. There is an Outlook icon on the bottom right next to the time
that I cannot remove. So Outlook is always running.

Ctrl+Alt+Del
Task Manager>Running Processes Tab.......locate outlook.exe and end the task

Usually caused by sync software or some other add-in interacting with the
data file

there were no add ins. I believe that it is a setting somewhere. Outlook
2003. Any ideas?

It is not a setting somewhere. Use the troubleshooting techniques you've been
given to find out why Outlook doesn't close properly.
