Outlook running in background

I want outlook to load when windows starts up, but I want
it running in the background. I don't want it to open I
just want to be able to receive notifications for tasks
that need to be addressed without running outlook. Is this
possible? Thanks.

No. If you state your version of Outlook, there are possible workarounds.

Outlook is a program that needs to be open to run - it cannot be run as a
service.
