Outlook running slowly

I have Outlook 2003 which has worked fine for past couple years until now.
Suddenly, it started working excruciatingly slowly. It functions at a snails
pace. If I do something such as delete an email, it eventually gets deleted,
but I have to wait and wait. When I first open Outlook, it seems to work OK
but after I do a couple things, it goes into slow mode. I have no idea what
could be wrong. No other program on the computer runs slowly like this.

Other than MS security updates, the only other thing I have changed has been
eliminating suspicious files discovered by "Ad-Aware".
