I am trying to use the Outlook Security Template from the Office 2003
Resource Kit to amend the default security settings for all my clients
on Exchange 2003 -
I have install SBS 2003 sp1 with exchange 2003 sp1 using office 2003,
I've download the outlook 2k3 resource kit. Installed the admin pack,
registered the DLL and OCX files, change the registry setting to tell
outlook to look for the security template setting in exchange. I am a
domain admin with owner permissions to the outlook template folder I
created in the root of the public folder.
The steps I've taken are as follows
1. Create "Outlook Security Settings" (folder root of public)
2. Check permissions (default has read, my user has all)
3. Open Outlooksecurity.oft, choose correct folder (Outlook Security
Settings)
4. Tools, Publish as Outlook Security Form
5. (Close - do not save)
6. New form - choose Outlook Security Form
7. Click close (it asks me if I want to save, I select 'yes')
The following error message appears.
'The access levels on this security setting cannot be saved, probably
because of an invalid password. This setting is currently set as a
default setting for all users. You should either delete the setting or
save it again, and type the correct password'
I've tried delete the folder and recreated it again, but same
results. I tried using the name outlook 10 security settings folder
name, but failed. I've also checked that exchange isn't in cache
mode and reset exchange server (sbs), and rest the pc.
My problem is that Outlook has never prompted me for ANY password. This
has been tried on different machines with different user accounts and
not once have I been prompted for a password when trying to save the
security settings.
Any ideas? Please
