Outlook Send/Receive Progress box NEVER DIES!!

Problem: I tried unsuccessfully to send a fax, then cancelled it. Also,
before I switched to verizon.net, I used att.net (still do, but that's
another story). Outlook keeps trying to send these 2 non-existant items. I
can't cancel them. I've tried everything I can think of. The send/receive
dialog box pops up CONSTANTLY (grrrrrr) and interferes with anything I'm
doing (Outlook is on in the background; doesn't happen when Outlook is off).
I dream of doing bad things to this send/receive dialog box, most of which
are not legal ;^).
Any suggestions on how to stop it?
I have gone to Send/Receive->Send/Receive Settings->Disable Schedule
send/receive.
I have also gone to:
Send/Receive->Send/Receive Settings->Define Send/Receive Groups->Edit-> and
removed the different email properties for Fax and ATT email, leaving only
Verizon.
(I assume I can change this back when I want to download my ATT mail --
which is another problem for another question later).

Any suggestions?

If you are saying msgs are stuck in your Outbox, Within OL, File>Offline,
wait a few mins. Shutdown OL. Wait, restart OL, navigate to Outbox, delete
the msgs.
Set to Online, shutdown, wait, restart OL

Hi DL,
thank you for the response and possible solution. Tried that, unfortunately
it hasn't worked. The outbox shows no messages in it.
This problem has gone on for soooo long! It's annoying. I've tried to locate
the messages OL is trying to send so I can delete them, but no luck.
Open for any more suggestions! :^)

Thank you for getting back to me so soon, DL!
I'll give both your suggestions a try. Will report back in a couple of days
(my schedule's a mess right now).
Here's crossed fingers that your suggestion(s) work!!
