Outlook sending multiple copies of email

B

Baggygreen

Hi,

I'm running Outlook 2007 on Vista Business and am having a problem with
Outlook sending multiple copies of some emails - usually those with
attachments. It doesn't happen with evey email with attachments, just
occasionally. It will send it 20-30 times but keep the email in my Outbox
saying that it hasn't been sent (although sometimes it says it's been sent
but stays in the Outbox). Can anyone help? Someone suggested a virus but I
have up-to-date quality virus software that runs a scan every day, is set to
scan email and real-time protection is on.

Thanks

If your virus scanner integrates with Outlook, disable this integration and
try again.

Do you mean try scanning for viruses again or try sending the emails again?

Thanks.

No, I mean to disable the component of your virus scanner that makes virus
scanner features available in Outlook. They are a known cause of send and
receive errors. This type of integration can be safely disabled since it is
redundant and doesn't add an extra layer of protection anyway.

Once you've done that try sending the email again to see if the issue has
been resolved.

Hi, thanks.

Sorry, I wasn't sure what it was you were suggesting once I'd disabled the
integration. I don't know if this is what you meant, but I've deactivated the
spam filtering. The Outlook toolbar doesn't seem to be an option in my
installation of my a/v software.

I need to leave the email scanning on though, right? I thought that this
does add a layer of protection, but I may be wrong.

Thanks again.

I've deactivated the spam filtering.
Outlook's Junk Email filtering or the one provided by your anti-virus
solution?
There is no direct need for that as long as you leave the on-access scanner
of your anti-virus solution enabled

See the documentation of your virus scanner on how to properly disable mail
scanning and/or Outlook integration.

No, the a/v junk mail option, Outlook's is set how I like it. i looked up
the Outlook integration - and that's sorted. I know how to setup the mail
scanning, I just had it turned on because I thought I needed to - will fiddle
with that a bit though. Hopefully the problem is solved!

Thanks again, appreciated.
