Outlook Sent Items disappeared.

There was no crash but the Sent items have all disappeared. They were
definitely there before and messages I send now are kept correctly. So how
can I restore the old ones? I ran a third party piece of demo software on the
the Outlook.pst file and the only sent messages it found were those sent
after the the problem occurred (it found all the inward messages though). Any
ideas gratefully appreciated.

Open your old pst file within Outlook, if you have a new default pst, and /
or ensure your Views are set correctly.
Then check your archives
A demo tool is not going to help you unless you deleted the msgs
