Outlook settings via Maintenance Wizard

Mike D.

Hi all -

I need to change the following settings via the Maintenance Wizard for our Default Outlook configuration. I don't see the options in the Maintenance Wizard. I assume I can import these settings via registry entries in the Wizard, however I do not know where to find the entries for the following. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

1) change the default autoarchive settings to "F:\Outlook\archive.pst"

2) change the menus to show the full menus all the time (Tools, Customize, Options, check the box 'Always show full menus')

3) change path and name of the default signature file? (The signature is called DEFAULT and the path is F:\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures)

Thanks!

I'm sorry, yes Outlook 2003, but SP1. Unfortunately our company is a little
behind and we go thru lots of politics when it comes to upgrading Service
Packs. So, we are currently at SP1. However if the info I am looking for
is different in Outlook 2003 SP1 vs SP2, I could use both for future
reference.

Thanks

It looks like I have found the answers to items 2 and 3. However I still
cannot find the Autoarchive file path in the registry. The CIW for Office
2003 doesn't even allow you to set that option. Odd...
1) change the default autoarchive settings to "F:\Outlook\archive.pst"

*** Still unknown...any help? ***

2) change the menus to show the full menus all the time (Tools, Customize,
Options, check the box 'Always show full menus')
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\Toolbars]
"AdaptiveMenus"=dword:00000000

3) change path and name of the default signature file? (The signature is
called DEFAULT and the path is F:\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\My
E-Mail\9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676\00000002]

The keys "My E-Mail", "9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676", and "00000002"
will vary, but at least I know where to look.

Not odd at all. It's mail profile specific, which means it's not a simple registry value that's the same on all machines. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836755/.
3) change path and name of the default signature file? (The signature is
called DEFAULT and the path is F:\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\My
E-Mail\9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676\00000002]

The keys "My E-Mail", "9375CFF0413111d3B88A00104B2A6676", and "00000002"
will vary, but at least I know where to look.

See http://www.outlookcode.com/codedetail.aspx?id=821 for a code sample.

If you had SP2 (or at least the hotfix in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=898076), you might not have to hack the registry. With that fix, if you create a new .adm file as shown at http://www.windowsitpro.com/Files/04/47211/Web Listing 1.txt, you can manage the signature settings as a policy. Note, though, that this will prevent user access to any of the signature settings.
