Outlook should let me choose default view for Word attachments!

That's not Outlook's "reading layout" it's Word's Reading Layout. And you
can switch it off. Tools-Options-General and uncheck "Allow starting in
Reading layout".

If you see this that is.

Having all Word attachments open in Outlook's Reading Layout is very
annoying, especially when many of my attachments are forms from my customers.
I think that it would be better for the Outlook user to be able to select
the default view that they prefer, whether Normal, Web Layout, Reading
Layout, etc. Many of my co-workers agree.

Umm, there is an "I Disagree" option if you click the link that goes with
that Microsoft-added disclaimer...if you see the I Agree button, you'll see
the I Disagree button too, and you can always add to the thread for
additional discussion.

There are two Microsoft website-based sites for the Office product
newsgroups -- the one at http://www.microsoft.com/communities, which includes
all products, and the Office-specific one at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/community. The suggestions feature is not
available through the former, but a post made through the latter will show up
in both places (as well as in NNTP newsreaders), which is why Microsoft gives
you a link back to the original post location so you can vote on a suggestion
if you wish. (Thus the part about "If you do not see the button, follow this
link...")

clearly means that people who agree are more likely to follow the link than
those that disagree as the option to disagree is not shown. This is actively
fishing for people who agree and can bias any results making them less
believable as the possibility of disagreement is ignored having not even
been mentioned. It's like going to an election where only one candidate has
been allowed to be advertised- you don't know there are alternatives so why
vote if you don't like his policies.

Sounds great but - not so, I made this change in Word General options - but
Word is intentionally NOT selected as my editor in Outlook. When I send
attached .doc or. rtf it still defaults to the highly annoying Reading
Layout. I can't read anything in that layout and i don't know anyone who
can. For crying out loud, HOW can I change the DEFAULT view of attached
docuents to normal/print layout? Is there anyone there in WA or elsewhere
who can answer this simple question?????
