Outlook signatures look different than when composed in Word 2003

To create a several new signatures, I went through
"Tools/Options/MailFormat/Signatures/New/Start With Blank
Signature/Next/Advanced Edit" to use Word 2003. In them, is a graphic which
is the logo for my company. When I use them in an email they look very
different. Line spacing is much larger, relationship of text to graphic is
moved around, several extra blank lines are added above the signatures,
sometimes the graphic shows up as an empty box with a little "x" in it. What
the heck is going on. How do i make them look like I composed them?
Appreciate some help.

Hi,
If you are designing your signature in Word, make sure that you press
SHIFT+ENTER at the end of each line of text. If you press only ENTER, Outlook
inserts your signature so that the recipient sees your signature in
double-spaced format.

Close the advanced editor, making sure that you click Yes to save your changes
Rgrds,
