Outlook was very slow downloading messages. The first 30 would be normal
speed, then it would take 1 minute EACH for the rest of the messages. It
worked as it should in safe mode, but not in normal (non-safe) mode, even
with all addins disabled.
I did all the things recommended, including making the .pst file small,
compressing it, removing the outlook.dat file so it would rebuild, repairing
the app, doing a scandisk in Windows, defragmenting the disks, and each of
the other fixes recommended in this and other forums.
The one that worked was creating a new email profile
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918 and importing my .pst into the new
profile.
Apparently, the profile was corrupted.
This solution is rarely mentioned online, never mentioned in any books on
Outlook, and hard to find anywhere.
