outlook slows down

i have had this reoccuring problem that out of nowhere outlook slows to a
crawl. i have to reboot to fix it sometimes twice. it takes forever to
change from folder to folder or to download email or do anthing on the pc.
it will even begin to redownload mail over and over


any ideas
