outlook speed

I have a customer that uses his outlook like a storage cabinet. He saves most
every email since the binginning of 2003. the last time I backed up his
outlook the file was around 1.5 GB. I have archived up to jan 1 2005 because
that is his request to keep last years emails handy. He has created
subfolders to orginize the email. outlook is extreamly slow and it is slowing
down his computer it takes forever to backup his outlook. is their a way or
method to speed everything up?

Have you compacted? File menu, datafile management, select a file,
Settings, Compact now.

No I have not tried that yet. I did not even know it existed. I will give it
a try
