outlook spell check

I am using XP professional. In Outlook, the spell check
feature is activated but it doesn't check the document.
Any suggestions. All known updates have been installed.

Windows XP Professional or Office XP Professional? If the former, which
Office version?

Are you using Word as your email editor, and if so is the text language tag
marked to skip spell-checking?
