Outlook stalls when creating a new appointment

Hi, I have a problem with Outlook when trying to create a new
appointment. Basically, after double clicking on a blank spot in the
calender, the frame of the new appointment screen appears but
immediately goes "Not Responding". After some time (approx. 30
seconds), the new appointment screen fully appears and i can enter
details provided i have not changed focus. If the focus has been
changed then it continues to be "Not Responding".

Using: Outlook 2003
Problem occurs with both Exchange, 2003 PST files and pre-2003 PST
files.

Things i have tried-
Safe mode - still occurs
Creating new PST files (both types) - still occurs
Logging in to the machine as a different user (local admin) - FIXED

Any suggestions?

Try opening Outlook with the /cleanreminders switch or the /cleanfreebusy
switch. You can also delete and recreate the profile as another alternative.

Thanks for the ideas. Neither of them work for me, but thanks none the
less.

My problem is still occuring, except sometimes the new appointment will
successfully appear (eventually), and then all subsequent attempts to
create a new appointment will suceed for a short period of time. Also,
now the issue has spread to existing appointments as well.

My current line of investigation is that my calender may be referencing
/ syncing with another server on the network that does not exist (ran
ethereal whilst creating a new appointment and noticed that my machine
made an unsuccessful DNS query. This appears to happen everytime).

Have you tried rebooting Windows?
