Outlook startup problem

O

oldschool

Hello all ! Thanks in advance for all your help!
My computer recently crashed to the point of no return. Everything is fine
now, and everything is back to the way it used to be. The O/S had to be
wiped and I made several upgrades.

Simply. everytime I startup outlook 2003 runs and asks me to insert my disc
for the following error message;

Error 1706

The computer is looking for a file it thinks I didn't install called
"outret.msi" I looked through my original startup disc and had the computer
do a scan and it is no where to be found. I can't find anything online to
download as a file/folder. Can anoyone help? Outlook actually works perfect
aside from this and I hate seeing this popup everytime I startup. It
happened before my computer crashed a while ago and I found a way to get rid
of the error 1706 somehow.

Please help! Thanks!

It would help if you could include the entire error message when
you post a question to the group.

I found the following article(s) on Technet for the "Error 1706":

You receive an "Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files" error
message when you repair or install a feature in Office:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297834/en-us?spid=2520&sid=global

You may receive a "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook" error message
when you start Outlook 2003:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822503/en-us?spid=2520&sid=global
