outlook storage files

Hey all;
My HDD for my laptop just started going out, so I bought another one and
installed it. I use to backup my .pst with all settings, contacts, and mail
every 2-3months. Now, since there are bad sectors on my old HDD, I can't
access any of those .pst files. Is there another set of files that I could
copy or merge over to my old system that outlook uses to draw and store all
it's information from?

I ahve tried doing several searches, but cannot find anything about the file
structure.

Any help would be wonderful,

Michael

By the way, I ahve tried the .pst recovery methods - to no avail!! That is
why I am asking about the main file structure used, to see if I can pull the
info from other areas.

Thanks Roady;
I have scanned for .pst in every area of my laptop's old HDD. Where is the
default location for the .pst? Is it in the MS/Outlook folder of that users
application data in the documents and settings folder?

No, all is kept within the pst-file.

Or try local settings. Check both or do a file search for *.pst.
What you may want to do though is run chkdsk -r to see if you can repair any
possible bad sectors on your HDD.
