Outlook stuck in offline mode and will not authenticate...?

Scott

I have a user with a weird problem. We have 2 domains for our company, one
here on the west coast, the other on the east coast trusted across a PIX
firewall to firewall VPN. Both are windows 2003 however all the servers are
here on the west coast except a file server they have on the east.

This users system is Windows XP Pro with Office 2003 Pro and is a member of
the east coast domain that our domain here on the west coast has a trust
with.

This user logs in remotely from their home over cable modem, connects to the
cisco vpn fine, can browse file shares on both their file server on the east
coast and ours on the west coast. They can login to and use Office
Communicator 2005 against our LCS 2005 server here on the west coast. They
can also login to and use Citrix via program neighborhood agent using an
internal IP. When they open outlook it comes up in offline mode every time
(it does not do this connected on their office LAN). Switch it to not work
offline and it prompts for authentication...Enter authentication and it just
prompts again and again even though I've checked rechecked and verified
authentication is correct. I've even tried logging in as the domain
adminstrator to see if there's something screwy with permissions, it still
just prompts again and again.

What could I be missing here? Why would their communicator, file access and
citrix program neighborhood agent all work fine but not outlook?

Thanks!!!

Scott
