Outlook sync for remote users

I am currently working with an organization which has a requirement to
use the Outlook sync plug-in for Project Server.

We are on the 2007 versions of Project Server, Outlook, and Exchange.
Our users are remote, and rarely connect to anything via the LAN. We
connect the Outlook client to Exchange using RPC over HTTP. We use PWA
via extranet and, at time, vpn.

Given this scenario, can we use the Outlook plug in for Project
Server? How does the plug-in connect to the Project Server?

Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide!

The ComAddin will communicate with Project Server webservices over http(s).

Providing the name can be resolved from the internet and the service is
accessible it will work.

You'd have to configure an external Alternate Access Mapping (AAM), which
can be used internally. Use this URL for configuring the ComAddin so it
works both internally and externally.
