Outlook Sync

Hello everyone,
I'm using a trial version of project server 07. I'm tying to get the outlook
sync to work. I installed the plug in and synched with the project server. I
set up an alert to notifiy my when a new status report is requested. I then
send a request from the server to my user account but nothing happens. I
double checked my email address and it looks good. Is there something that
has to be done on the server? What protocol does it use to send out emails?
