outlook task status update

After I assign tasks to other users, I want to get status on their
progress.
When they update the task, it sends me an update in the form of an
e-mail to
my inbox. Once I open the e-mail update, the changes are posted to the
task
that I am tracking.

? - is there a way for my copy of the task to automatically update so I

don't have to open the status e-mail that's automatically sent to me.
I'm
trying to avoid having hundreds of status e-mails sent to my inbox
while
retaining the ability to see status of the assigned task.

I had the same problem - as I use the task system to allocate work to
engineers. I found that assigning tasks created more problems than it solved.

In the end I shared my tasks with the engineers (users) so that they could
see them and edit them. I added a custom field for engineer's name and then
he/she simply setup a view on their pc which looked at my tasks but only
showed the tasks with their respective name in.

It works very well! Get it a try.
