Outlook Tasks and items in OneNote 2007 - problem?

I have installed ON 2007 and am running Outlook 2003 - a combination which
according to MS should be fine.

In Outlook, for things emails, contacts and appointments I have the ON icon
on the task bar to insert items into ON, but not for Tasks. Thinking about it
that might be reasonable...but... I can't insert an Outlook item from within
ON.

The Task bar/icon in ON is greyed out and have tried changing display
settings to no avail. Also all the options under Tools > Create Outlook Item
are also greyed out, so I can't insert an outlook task, contact or
appointment.

What am I doing wrong???

I have the same configuration as you. Outlook 2003 with OneNote 2007. My
taskbar item for ON is not greyed out and works fine, as does the
Tools>>Create Outlook Item. I guess I'd try and do a repair of either
Outlook or OneNote or both. In Outlook it is Help>>Detect and Repair.
OneNote is Help>>Office Diagnostics.

Thanks Michael - have tried the Office Diags in ON but no improvement. Will
try the D&R in Outlook.

Have also tried some of the suggestions such as resetting the task bar
mentioned by someone on another thread as a possible solution, but to no
avail.

This does seem to be a common, if not consistent problem - are MS aware of
it??

Can you right click the task folder and select Properties? What shows under
"When posting to this folder, use " (hopefully IPM.Task)?

If that's OK, try opening tools \ options \ other \ addins. Is OneNOte
addin installed?

Lastly, do you have any addins installed which may change the default task
item?

Thanks,
John
