Outlook Today - Profile Set Up

D

David

I would appreciate a little assistance from someone with more experience that
can help me set up my new Outlook 2007 profile correctly.

When I installed Outlook the wizard asked for my MSN/Hotmail email address
and password. I believe it set up my main profile entitled "Personal
Folders". When I click on Personal Folders I can see the Outlook Today main
summary page.

Then I downloaded Outlook Connector so I could sync with my MSN account. the
Outlook Connector asked for my email address and password. I entered the
identical email address and password as with Outlook 2007 installation setup
wizard, but then Outlook 2007 created a new profile underneath the main
Personal Folders account.

Now the Personal Folders account is unused, but the Outlook Today page,
Contacts, Calendar, etc are joined to that profile instead of the second
profile - my actual email address - that was created by the Outlook Connector.

I do not want two profiles, just one that works with the Outlook Today page,
my contacts/calendar and MSN.

How can I correct this configuration?

PS - I am paying for a premium services subscription since I have had the
old Outlook Live for a few years. It indicated I would have 10GB of storage,
but the server status box only shows 5GB capacity. Also, my contacts and
calendar did not sync - only email in the new, unwanted second account.

Please help if you can. I'll do the same for someone else the next chance I
get.

Thanks

They're actually not separate profiles, just separate .PST files. Go to
Tools | Account Settings, click the Data Files tab, and select which file you
want to be the default. That file will now have Outlook Today on its root
folder and it will have the default Calendar, Contacts, etc. If you don't
need the other file, you can just close it out of Outlook.

Wow! Thanks Jocelyn. That worked very well - so simple and quick.

Everything seems to be functional. However, in the Account Settings dialogue
box my default account file name is listed as "Not Available".

Also, I received a popup message that stated, "The default delivery location
no longer provides full support for multilingual Unicode data".

How do I find the file name and location for my default account? Did I lose
something important regarding Unicode data?

Thanks once again!

To find the file location of your default file, right click its root folder
in the Navigation Pane (it should be Outlook Today now), click Properties,
then the Advanced button. The path will be in the Filename box.

Is this .PST file created in the new format used by Outlook 2003 and Outlook
2007, which supports Unicode? This information appears right under the
Filename box mentioned above -- if it just says "Personal Folders File" it's
the new Unicode format; if it says Personal Folders File (97-2002) or
something to that effect, it's the old format, which doesn't support Unicode.
