Outlook tray email notification

Somehow I turned off the email notification in the tray. How can I get it
back?

If I right-click the Outlook tray icon, there is an option "Show New Mail
Desktop Alert". What's this. I don't think I get desktop alerts.

Go to Tools | Options | Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, then Advanced
E-mail Options. The settings you're looking for are in the "When new items
arrive in my Inbox" section.
