I am using Outlook 2003 and starting 3 months ago, it started closing on me
for no apparent reason--sometimes when downloading messages from the server,
sometimes when I switch users (Windows XP), sometimes it just closes and
gives no error message. At other times, when I am trying to send a message,
the program will have a fatal error and will close. At these times, I will
get an error message--"the remote procedure call failed" and "A fatal error
has occurred in Outlook. The data in your envelope has been lost, but your
document is still avaliable." Now, I cannot even open Outlook because "the
data file Outlook.pst is in use by another program and it cannot be accessed.
Close any application using that file and try again." I have no idea what
could be using it or why, but these errors have been going on for months. I
thing I have some malicious adware or spyware, but none of my scanners can
detect it. Please help.
