Multiple parts to this in terms of the Outlook import/export wizard
#1 - Native Access '2007 files must be saved as '97-2003 .mdb files
#2 - Once item #1 is in place - you could re-import the file with the
following caveat
- you could allow Outlook to check for duplicates which we've
found to be a hit or miss proposition in terms of working.
Depending on what you've "cleaned up" - the items may no
longer be found to be a duplicate
#3 - Aside from the "duplicate" option in item #2 - there is no option to
update "pre-existing" contacts on import
Your alternative option is to delete all items from the contact folder
and then import the MS Access file creating a clean contact folder.
You may find ContactGenie DirectPort of interest
http://www.contactgenie.com/directport_4_outlook.htm
The intended demographic for DirectPort are those who wish to perform bulk
"offline" updating of contact data & ensure that the exact same contact
items
exported are used during the update process on import keeping such fields
as
Creation Date/Contact Links etc in tact.
