Outlook updates keep downloading

I have Office 2003 installed, but not Outlook. Windows update keeps
downloading updates which I then have to uncheck for the updates. Outlook has
never been installed on this machine. I do not use Outlook (personal
preferences/ problems with previous versions) Any suggestions, short of
ripping Office out of the machine?

And a search for outlook.exe reveals nothing?

This is normal behavior for an Office 2003 and leaving any major component
out (e.g. Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, .etc). The reason why is that if a
user decided to add it at a later time, it will automatically be at the
latest service pack/critical security hotfix and they shouldn't have to
worry about reapplying updates.

Just let those updates install. This is will not harm your present setup
