Outlook----URGENT

G

George

I recently setup a new computer with Windows XP Pro 64 and Office 2003. I
then setup Outlook the get my email. Since I hadn't checked my email in a
long time there was a lot.
I started downloading it in batches of about 1000. After each batch I would
delete it all and empty the junk folder. After 3 batches I would shut down
Outlook and reboot.
This worked fine until about 10,000. After that, everytime I hit
send/receive Outlook would want to shut down and send an error message to
Microsoft. I sent many.
I am using CA for virus protection and have done several scans. All negative.
What is causing this problem and how can I fix it?

What kind of error messages have you seen? Precise messages and/or numbers
would be helpful.
Also is there any way you can check your email online with your ISP so
you're not downloading so many?

ll it says is"Microsoft has encountered a problem and must shut down."
Then it askes if I want to send an error report. and I do.

Are there any send/receive errors? Any errors in the application event viewer
related to Outlook or Office? Have you run the Inbox repair tool? Archived or
deleted older mail?

No other error messages. The inbox, Junk mail and deleted items folders are
all empty. I cannot find aninmboz repair tool.

Do a file search for scanpst.exe. Double-click it and follow the
instructions. Have it scan your PST for errors. You may have to run it a few
times until it no longer finds errors. Please let me know what happens.

It asks what file I want to scan. I typed in pst and *.pst but can't get any
results.
It say unknown error prevented acces.

Browse to your PST. You can't use an asterisk in the file name.

I thought the astrisk was a wildcard for searching. Oh well. I cannot find
any pst files.

Use Windows Explorer to make sure that you unhide hidden folders and files.
Also make sure you have it set to show known file extensions. Then use the
search function.
