Outlook voicemail temp data problem, please help! Roady?

We have a couple of users in our organization who are having issues with
opening voicemail in Outlook. I have seen the issue described elsewhere on
the net and the solutions were to point the temp data to another folder via a
reg entry and/or to manually go in and delete the data yourself. A co-worker
pointed one user's Outlook temp data to a new folder on the root of C. But
the folder keeps "filling up" however. We've had to go in and periodically
delete the contents to enable the user to play voicemail. Why is this?
There's plenty of free space on his hard drive. Is there a size limitation?
Or a certain number of voicemails that can be created but not more? He does
get a lot of voicemail, but there's no reason we should have to go in
manually and delete this stuff once a week. Is there another reg entry which
can be modified to undo this apparent restriction? Does this temp data never
clear itself out? Or is it just because he rarely reboots his machine? Out of
400 or so users only a couple seem to be having this problem. Any help would
be GREATLY appreciated. THANX.

When you open attachments on email directly from Outlook, a copy is written
to a temporary folder on your hard drive so your the virus scanner can check
it before it is opened.

These files are supposed to be deleted when you close the opened attachment,
however this only happens if the email message the attachment arrived on
remains open - this is either an opened message in a new window or in the
reading pane. When the message is closed (or you wait to preview another
message) after the attachment is closed, the temporary file is deleted from
the SecureTemp folder. If you close the open message or display another
Outlook item in the reading pane but leave the attachment open, the temp file
is not deleted when you close the attachment.

When this folder gets "full" you may have problems opening email attachments
or embedded images won't display. If you open image attachments in Windows
Photo or Image viewer and click next, you may see old images you thought you
deleted. Delete the files in the folder to fix.

Hope this helps!

Note: You can change the folder to point to a new location, but before
changing the registry key, make sure the new folder exists. If the folder
does not exist, the key will be reset to a new OLK* or Content.Outlook folder
under Temporary Internet Files.

Thank you so much for the response. A folder called "Outlook temp data" was
created previously, outlook was pointed to that dir via the registry, and
that's definitely where all of his temp files are going - because I've
deleted them out about a dozen times. He may very well be leaving Media
Player open as he's checking all of his voicemail, I'll ask him. I just don't
understand why there is a size or quantity limitation on that temp folder -
or why it's not emptied when outlook closes. I guess I can make a batch file
to empty that folder and schedule it to run every day - just seems like that
shouldn't be necessary.

There is no a size limitation on the folder but there is a naming convention
limitation; I believe only 99 files with the same name can exist in that
folder.
Once the count hits 99, when you try to open a file with the same file
name you get an error returned as far as I know.

If I'm mistaken someone else will come along and correct the information.
