How do I stop Outlook 2007 from opening when I activate an email link in OE,
webpage, or in a document. I want OE. I did until I installed Office 2007 :(
Internet Options is set for OE as default email client.

TIA

Installing an Office product that includes MS Office Outlook, or an update to the product has a bad habit of setting Outlook as the
default email client.

To reset to Outlook Express start it and make it the default in
Tools=>Options=>General=>[Make Default]

<sigh> if you don't want to use Outlook just uninstall it....

I did find the solution. Even though OE was chosen as the default client,
Outlook is what opened. I changed default client to Outlook, clicked Apply,
changed to OE and clicked Apply. All is fine now. Goes to show that you can't
believe everything you read :p

And you'll find that when you get your next batch of updates to Office,
guess what? Outlook will again be the default.
If you don't use Outlook (and I can't understand why, having presumably paid
for Office, that you don't use Outlook). then just uninstall it and it won't
bother you again.

I happened to like OE. I have some addons that are not compatible with
Outlook. Not a big deal no that I have found how to correct the issue :p Just
because you purchase a whole package of stuff doesn't mean you have to use it
all - does it?

I trust you back it up regularly. I also trust that you have a UPS in
the event that OE is compacting at the same time the lights go out.
