Outlook w/business contact manager will not open

C

CPANJ

I can not open Outlook. I continually receive a message that Business Contact
Manager (BCM) has encountered a problem and needs to close. The details of
the message are:

Event Type: bcm PA:mapi P2: typeinitializationexception
P3: 1.02.2002.1 P4: 11.08217 P5:nativemsproviderinit
PC: msproviderinit P7: d40099fb

I uncheck the box to restart and try to start Outlook and get the same
message. I have reloaded BCM and still get the same message. I have tried to
start Outlook in safemode and still get the same message.

Can anyone help resolve this?

Did you try detect and repair? Did you uninstall BCM or make a new profile
and try it?

I tried detect and repair and got the same message. I then put the CD into
the drive and reinstalled BCM and had the same result.

Should I be uninstalling BCM and then install the program again? If so, I
would assume that I would have to save the Outlook data files somewhere else
to prevent their deletion on the uninstalling of BCM. Can you tell me where
these files are being hidden?

The Outlook data files (pst) will be ok if you uninstall BCM. If you never
used BCM, then there is nothing to worry about losing from it. If you
previously used BCM, the database location is listed at
http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2004/up040708.htm#bcm, along with instructions
on recovering it.

I would uninstall BCM, restart the computer and see if outlook works fine.
The reinstall BCM.
