Outlook will not allow Attachments

I am unable to open some (I have no problem opening the ones that use Quick time) attachments in my Outlook e-mail.
I am running Windows XP Pro and am a "newbie" with Outlook.
The attachment symbol is with the message on arrival
when I click on the attachment symbol it opens a new window for the message but there is no attachment icon to click on and no further message
do I have to set something to allow this to come through or is it the folks sending me the attachment...I trust them with the sending of attachments to me. They have passed through my Norton AntiVirus okay.

Can you right-click on the attachment and save it to your hard drive, and
then open it that way?

Note - I notice that you've included your email address in your post -
that's discouraged, as spammers frequently harvest addresses from NGs -
either munge it or put in a fake address.
