outlook will not close without using task manager.

I am using Outlook 2003 SP2, part of MS Office Basic Edition 2003. My
problem is my outlook will not close. The program works great until I try to
close it. I must use task manager to close the program. When task manager
is opened prior to closing outlook, it shows the CPU to be using 0-3 (for
outlook) most of the time. As soon as I close outlook it jumps to 50 and
stays there. My McAfee is updated and I have reloaded/repaired the software
a number of times. This has been going on for so long that I can't remember
when it started. Thanks to anyone who can or attempts to help.

Hello,
Do you have anything running that would hold Outlook open, such as
synchronization software or Add Ins, etc.? Also, turn off AV scanning of
incoming and outgoing mail (this will not compromise your security).

Thanks, the problem seems to be fixed. I turned off all the add ins and the
McAfee. It closes fine now. Thanks again.
