Outlook will not open even after update downloads

MS outlook would not and then MS word kept closing after a few minutes. I
repoted the error to MS. I was directed to download updates. I downloaded
them but the downloads would hang on step 2 of 3, and not install.

I still cannot open MS outlook and MS word still keeps closing.

What can I do?

What is the error message that you are getting? What is the version of
Outlook? What is the update you are trying to install?
