I am using Office 2003 including Outlook 2003 with XP Pro service pack 2 is
installed. Outlook had been working fine until a few days ago. I have not
added or changed anything, unless there were auto updates. Now when I attempt
to open Outlook an error pops up: "Outlook has encountered a problem and
needs to close ..." Then I am presented with options to report to Microsoft,
and then cancel or open in "safe mode". After opening in safe mode I have
checked all settings and can detect no changes from when I first began to use
Outlook. I have looked at the Microsoft Error Report and can not find
anything helpful. I have run "detect and repair" and although it completes
sucessfully Outlook still will not open. I did note that a recent Outlook
update "KB943649" failed to install? I assume the problem is in the registry
but do not know where to look or what to change.
