Outlook will not open

When I try to open Outlook I'm getting the message "This
program has performed an illegal operation and will be
shut down." This is the text in the details window:

I have run virus scan, scandisk, and defrag. Plus I have
attempted repairs using the Windows 98 and Office start
up disks with no luck. Any ideas?
