While trying to copy my Outlook 'contacts' info onto a CD, I screwed
something up and now Outlook will not open. When I click on Outlook, the
screen comes up and disappears as an error message pops up; "Cannot start MS
Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook windows. The set of folders cannot
be opened. Errors have been detected in the file". The message goes on to
tell me to use the Outlook repair tool, which I can't get to.
I have tried safe mode and 'Outlook.exe /resetnavpane' and each time the
same error message pops up. Also, I went into the directory under
Microsoft/Office 12 and double-clicked on Scanpst. It tried to do a repair,
but failed, saying it could not fix all 8 errors (or something).
I just un-installed and re-installed Office 2007, however, when I clicked on
Outlook in Office to set it up, the same message popped up.
I have Office 2007 and am using Vista. I obviously don't know much about
computers, but I was surprised to see Outlook appear (quickly before
disappearing) the same (as it did prior to error message) when I clicked on
it and my Word files intact, after the Office 2007 uninstall/reinstall. Any
help would be appreciated.
