I am not a regular outlook user (I use live) however, I have it loaded and
would like to sync my BB to it. I works fine until I close it. The icon in
the task bar freezes and when I click it it gets and error message "Not
responding. If using exchange . . . "
I have disabled all add ins but was unable to disable the winfax add in. I
think that is where my problem is - Can someone give me some direction
Thanks
And what is a "BB"? Some handheld device to which synchronization
software works with Outlook? Well, if so, my guess is that the software
installed an add-on that does not allow Outlook to unload. Since
Outlook does not unload, or it does not unload correctly, you have
problems trying to load Outlook again (since it is still partially
loaded).
When Outlook loads, it also loads all enabled add-ons. If an add-on
crashes or hangs on load then Outlook also crashes or hangs on its load.
When Outlook exits, it must also unload all the loaded add-ons. If an
add-on crashes of hangs on exit then Outlook also crashes or hangs on
exit.
So load Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe") which does not
load any add-ons or COM plug-ins installed for Outlook. If the problem
goes away, you probably have an add-on that is causing the problem.
You'll have to uninstall the add-on (which could be your "BB" sync
software) or find out if there is a newer version that doesn't hang
Outlook on exit. Since you mention that the Winfax add-on does not
allow its disable then you'll probably have to uninstall it.
In WinFax Pro, and if you really don't need the integration to Outlook,
disable its Office integration option. Somewhere in the options for
Winfax is an option to install an add-on that provides integration
between Outlook and Winfax. That "integration" is merely the display of
the Winfax folders inside of Outlook. That's not a critical feature
since all fax operations are still handled inside of Winfax. Once you
disable the Office integration option in Winfax, the Winfax folders will
no longer show up inside the folder pane of Outlook - but then you can
still manage your faxes and history through the Winfax console.
