I've been running MS Office 2003 Pro w Outlook and BCM since July 2004. All
updates have been applied.
About twice a year, the standard form for editing BCM contacts would
'disappear'. I would have to go into help..etc. to unlock the plug-in that
had prevented the display/edit.
Yesterday all of BCM locked up. I could view contacts, but not edit. When I
did a 'detect and repair' of Outlook 2003, all BCM disappeared. I found
MSBusinessContactManager.msbcm in the My Documents/backups folder. When I
try to run it, the reinstall of Outlook reports it is an old file that needs
conversion. During the restore state, it just aborts.
BCM 2003 does not have a detect and repair mode. I assumed it would detect a
newer version installed and offer an alternative. It didn't. It installed
over the newer Outlook and BCM breaking all links to ten years of records.
I have a week old incremental backup but don't know which specific files to
restore.
The .mdf and .ldf are no where to be found on my computer. Outlook opens to
blank databases now. I can reinstall outlook and BCM, but how do I import
the newer msbcm file?
I would buy into online Live Essentials if it could import the file.
