Hello.
1. Outlook will not save my password. Out of the blue it started re-asking
for my password. I type it in, click the save checkbox, and it may work fine
for a few times. Three or four times later of re-opening Outlook, it starts
again. I type in the password and it works fine to receive messages. I was
using Outlook Express when this started so I went to Outlook instead. Both
have had this problem.
2. I am using WinXP. I have tried using the microsoft article that
explains how to tweak the registry to delete the stored password. This never
works for me. I've followed it to the letter a number of times.
3. I have un-installed Express (as much as one can) and installed Outlook.
This hasn't work.
4. I did a search of my computer for any files related to "Outlook" and
just deleted them, hoping this would help. Obviously I lost some
emails/contacts (but I saved the back up files on a disk) but the password
problem continues.
5. Finally, when my computer boots up it comes to the welcome screen for my
account and my wife's account. XP shows the number of "unread email"
messages for each account. Through this all, the number of emails it says we
have unread is wrong. (We have them all opened.) Somewhere there is a file I
just can't delete/un-install that has stored this info wrong.
6. Through it all, my wife's identity/Outlook works perfectly with no
problems. Just my account.
7. Again, I have tried tweaking the registry through Microsoft's bulletin
to no avail.
I sure hope someone can help. I have no idea what to try next. Thanks.
