Outlook won't close then kills .pst file or .bcm file is system re

Outlook , by design stays in the background to quickly reopen the program.
The problem is if my system receives an update and reboots, crashes, or i
close it outlook is closed as if I use the task manager. When doing that it
corrupts the sqll database for bcm and the .pst file.

When I exit Outlook I want it to close. When the system closes processes
(as in after an unattended update) I want it to close outlook fully.

Did you get any help on this? I have the same problem and it is extremely
frustrating. I'm interested in the fix as well. It happens almost daily.

I even have this problem when I go to File and select exit in Outlook. If
there is anything running in the background that is still associated to
Outlook, it corrupts my .pst file and has to go through this long process of
checking the data folders before it will open outlook again.

The Outlook 2007's problem, always finding the PST damaged on
opening, was supposed to be fixed in Office SP1, but I still get that
occasionally.

If the Outlook process stays around after exiting, you may have
ActiveSync running. If that's the case, shut it down, or uncradle your
PDA or phone.

How is the BCM database getting corrupted--what's the symptom? Sql
Server should assure transactional integrity, even if the PC loses
power.

I have found the problem to be BCM. There are many posts on this though most
don't realize that this is their problem. 98% of the time I cannot get
Outlook to close and if my system restarts in any way or I must close BCM
with ctrl-alt-del then it damages my sql files or links and the pst file.
Microsoft is clueless as their support can network real well but cannot write
a letter.

Hi,
I am running Vista Ultimate, with Outlook 2007 BCM (Complete Office Setup)

I had this problem and so I went through my running programs and turned them
off one at a time and then started and closed Outlook each time, whilst
watching the process window.

I had skype and AVG Anti-Virus 8 running (both have Outlook add-ins) as soon
as I unloaded both of them everything went back to normal. There is a delay
in the process window before it is completely closed, but I think this is
just down to it closing the its active files.

So it would appear that the problem lies with add-in programs not
disconnecting on exit?

I have not found a cure for the problem, but it may be an explanation?

It's likely that any process that connects to Outlook will likely also
keep the Outlook process alive.

You are correct - however - I would assume that if windows upsate (by
microsoft) determines the applications (by microsoft) and operating system
(by microsoft) should close that they would make sure outlook was FULLY
closed before rebooting.

That is the issue as wWindows closes before outllook does which can take
from 10 minutes to never to close.
