Outlook won't communicate with gmail

I downloaded a bunch of Microsoft Updates on Monday. After that I cleaned
up files/internet stuff/registry with CCleaner. I had reinstalled Office
2003 a few days before this, and most or all of the updates were for Office.
My send/'receive hasn't worked since then. Nor can I retrieve any emails
that I double click on. The first and second times I did a send/receive, I
saw the message "sending message 1 of 1," although nothing was in the inbox
to be sent. After that, on both occasions, the hourglass remained until I
opened the task manager, which both times told me Outlook wasn't responding,
so I closed Outlook each time. Since then, no more "sending message" prompts
appear, but Outlook still gets hung up, won't finish the send/receive, and I
close it with the task manager. One time on a send/receive, I got a message
that Outlook had timed out before the IMAP server had responded, or
something like that. I should have written that message down.

At any rate, Outlook is not communicating with gmail.Any suggestions?

Without knowing what you cleaned difficult to say.
Try running Office Detect/Repair then configuring a new outlook Profile, and
if you have anti virus integrated with Outlook uninstall that first & reboot

Thanks DL. But I think I brought in some unnecessary stuff with this post
with the Updates and CCleaner and all that. I later noticed that the only
email I had tried to open was a whopping 7MB. No wonder Outlook tried to
open it for a long time, and that a couple of times Task Manager said
Outlook was not responding. But on Send/Receives things still get hung up,
so I'll watch things for a couple of days and if I can't work things out
I'll probably start a clean thread on this without the red herring.
