On my "fairly" (less than one year old, running Windows XP Home) new
computer, I installed all the components of Microsoft Office XP Pro except
for Outlook. Today, I decided I wanted Outlook and installed...no problem
yet.
So I try to open it, and get an error message that it can't open my default
mail folder (keeping in mind that I haven't configured any e-mail accounts
yet). It asks if I want to open my default file system folder instead.
Whether I click Yes or No, I get "This application has requested the runtime
to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support
team for more information." Other times I get "Unable to open your default
e-mail folders. An unexpected error has occurred. MAPI was unable to load
the information service mspst.dll. Be sure the service is correctly
installed and configured."
I tried right clicking from the desktop and configuring an e-mail account,
but no dice.
I've uninstalled and re-installed three times. I'm not really a computer
novice, but this one has me stumped. I even searched the installation disk
for the mspst.dll file, and it wasn't there.
Can anyone help? Please feel free to e-mail me off list if you like.
(e-mail address removed).
Thank you!
