Outlook won't open

Outlook 2002 will not open for one user. It says"Microsoft Outlook has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." Keeps doing this over and over. Already tried uninstalling
Microsoft Office XP Small Business and reinstalling without any change.
Computer had not been used much in a year or so. Help.

Hi,

To start with, in the same error message check for a field which says 'Mod
Name'.
Also, you could start t/s by creating a new profile.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287072

Also, try opening Outlook through Start> Run> outlook /safe
Check if it works fine without closing down.

Thanks,

Mittu

There is no "Mod Name" in the error box. The same error message cmes up in
safe mode. The code in the error report is: 0x00000bb4. I don't know what you
mean by t/s but I really don't want to create a new profile and have to
migrate all the files over.

Did you try creating a new mail profile?

What makes you think you have to migrate anything when you create a new
profile?
Create the new profile and use the Data Files button on the Mail applet to
configure that profile to use the original PST. No "migration" required.

I did not - was out of town. How can I create a new profile if I can't open
Outlook?
