outlook won't store my email server passwords

I have followed the advice on the MS site (delete sub key from proected
storage system provider key in registry) but outlook always asks for my
server passwords when receiving (sending is OK).
Have removed Office Professional 2003 and reinstalled it - still no joy.
Can anyone help?

do you have the account setup to require passwords on send? tools,
accounts... open the account and click more settings, outgoing server.

NO, under extra settings the server does not check for a password (uses same settings as send).
