Outlook/Word 2003 problems

My PC has recently developed several problems to do with Outlook and Word:

1. I have added the Outlook icon to my desktop through the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
registry key. When I right-click this icon and select Properties, I get an
error that "The properties for this item are not available." The properties
are accessible from Outlook when it is open.

2. When I have Outlook set to use word for e-mail editing, if I click "New",
Word will open for editing a new e-mail. If I try to reply/forward, I
receive the error "Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However,
Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook.
The Outlook email editor will be used instead." In both of these cases (new
or reply/forward), Winword.exe remains in the Task Manager process list after
Word is closed (if it was opened via New email then closed) or if it was not
displayed at all.

I have tried the following steps to remedy these problems, all without
success:

1. Detect and Repair Office 2003.
2. Detect and Repair Office 2003 and restore shortcuts.
3. Detect and Repair Office 2003 and restore default settings.
4. Reinstall Office 2003.
5. Completely uninstall Office 2003 and reinstall, reapply SP3.
6. Regsvr32 ole32.dll
7. Delete all Normal.dot files.
8. Disable all 3rd-party Word add-ins.

How can I fix these problems?

I have a user with the same exact problems. You are not alone! Do
you remember if you installed or removed a particular program before
this started happening? I got through step 5 above before I found
your post here. I will post here if I find anything...

Try this, it worked for me...

Goto Start, Run and then paste in this line.

Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll

I did a "Detect and Repair" from the help menu in Word first, but I
don't think that was what made a difference.

Does anyone know how to combine multiple microsoft documents into one? I have
45 individual documents to open, print and bind. Would like to selct one file
and hit print...

Goto Start, Run and then paste in this line.

Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll

I did a "Detect and Repair" from the help menu in Word first, but I

I had a very persistent and difficult to remove adware infestation (vundo)
before this happened. I also tried removing Norton Systemworks 2007, and
that didn't help either (something I found suggested it might), and not only
that, I couldn't reinstall Norton's, even after removing it with the removal
tool.

Regsvr32 on ole32.dll didn't work (that was step 6).

The solution to this problem is now pretty much moot for me, since Windows
decided to forget what .EXEs, LNKs and other file types were for shortly
after I posted this, and I had to wipe and reinstall everything...
